“The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred within their bones.” [from Shakespear’s Julius Caesar]
Syllabus. Fourteen primary sections with discussions of Constitutional leitmotifs. These discussions are frequently phrased in polemical terms. Normally, a Scalia Comment (“Maxim”) concerning a Constitutional or Foundational Imperative is highlighted — and then rejected as insufficient or worse after a brief and sometimes polemical argument of a couple or more pages. Most of the primary sections treat specific issues concerning the ten Bill of Rights Amendments and/or the Fourteenth Amendment. The first Appendices explore additional underlying issues which cannot be so easily encapsulated in a few paragraphs — at least by this author. The Appendices include an appreciation for Scalia’a legal contributions (Appendix A), a relatively neutral description of linguistic complexities (Appendix B), and Biliographies of both Cases and Books . More general — sometimes quite disputatious — issues are considered in the other Appendices. Appendix R treats some religious issues of particular interest to some American citizens. Additional Appendices may be presented after the initial posting of the 14 primary sections and Appendices A-I.

DEEP AUTUMN FLOWERS: CRITIQUES OF RELIGIOUS-POLITICAL HYPOCRISY. A blog countering popular forms of political-religious hypocrisy. Hypocrisy concealed under the mantle of nationalism and religion is especially needy of criticism. When injustice is proud, smug, and inconsistent, it should be openly confronted. Added rhetorical flourishes may make explicit value-laden assumptions. I begin with blogs on Justice Antonin Scalia (Immoral Maxims of an Unjust Judge) and Nietzsche.
